At 18.5 months!!! I just had to share!!
We still don't know what's going on w him...he has significant gross motor delay and small for his age but smart as a whip and a very busy little guy who gets in to EVERYTHING!

Congrats! We are still waiting for dd (19 mo) to walk.

But it is amazing when they do take their first step.

Make sure to get his second step on video

Yeah Mama! That's so exciting for you guys. My DD took her first step at 18.5 months also and now almost exactly one year later she is running and jumping. Hopefully your LO will make all kinds of progress. Is he seeing a PT?

Wow! To think, in 6 months mine could be walking or even running LOL! Yeah Giovanni has been in pt about 6 months now. Since he started he's now able to scootch on his butt( instead if crawling?)get himself up to a sitting position, Pull to stand, cruise on furniture, stand alone ( he just started today) and took a step today as well of course! Before pt he just sat in one place.

Re: my boy took his first step today!

Congratulations mama!! I know how big of a deal that is, go celebrate.

My son is three and has cerebral palsy and took his first steps (with the help of a pacer) just a few months ago. It's one of those things that brings tears to your eyes. It must be hard not knowing what is going on, but one thing I know is that all of our special children do things at their own pace, and when they do finally achieve something, like taking steps, it's like watching a miracle.
