Diaper Swappers

...I see CDs in the "real world."

I live in an area where it's not very common (or maybe I just don't hang out with the right crowd, lol) so when I see someone else who CDs, I get so excited!

I am doing a pediatric rotation at the hospital we are doing clinicals in right now and I got to take care of a little guy with a fluffy butt yesterday and today! He was wearing a BG of some sort, I think it was either a Flip with a prefold or a 4.0 pocket. I talked to his mom (super sweet girl!) and she said he gets really bad rashes from any disposable diapers so they didn't have much of a choice. She loves it though and her DH is on board now that he sees how much better it is for his bum. Today he had on a Grovia shell with a red edged (GMD I think) prefold trifolded in it.

I was going to ask her if she was on DS, but I thought maybe she might think I was a little weird...I already got a little too chatty with her I think...haha! I couldn't help myself, I get so excited to see fluff!!

Love it! I always try to make friends with mamas of fluffy bummed kids i see at playplaces and parks. Its becoming a common sight around here which i love.

A few gals at my church use them but I've never just randomly seen a baby with cloth on while out and about. I would get super excited, too!

I know what you mean! I was probably overly friendly with a gal I saw in a coffee shop on day. I noticed a little edge of a FuzziBunz sticking out of her diaper bag and got all excited when I found out she used cloth.

When I worked in the nursery at my Bible study, three of the 12 babies were in cloth. I converted my co-volunteer.

I took DS to a well baby appointment this week and his nurse was admiring his fluffy bottom. She said she didn't even know about modern cloth diapers until she started working at the peds office. She said she is seeing more and more babies come in wearing cloth. I thought that was promising to hear!

I get excited, too. My DH will strike up conversations with random people if he sees their baby wearing wool or cloth.

I get really giddy when I see someone with CD's... I saw this Mama at Whole Foods two weeks ago and I stopped her and said... I see MOONBEAM! IS that a Flip or Bumgenius?? Then I told her "Go Mama! I hope I didnt freak you out, but us Cloth Diaper Mama's got to encourage one another."

My preceptor (who has worked in peds for years) said she has never seen someone who uses cloth before when she was working! I thought that was strange. She did say she bought a cloth diaper sampler pack for one of her nieces to try them all out, but she wasn't sure if she even stuck with it. When DS3 was little and we had to take him to that same hospital's ER the nurses were pleased to see his diapers but not necessarily shocked. As if they do see them more and more lately.

Cloth is coming back!
