I was in labor and delivery last night; has this happened to anyone else?

Last night I was in labor and delivery b/c I was having very regular contractions. I was having contractions every 4-7 minutes for an hour. It was terrifying because we feel so unprepared at the moment! I didn't even have a bag packed for the hospital or care arranged for our kids. They were able to stop the contractions and send me home since I was not dialated at all.l I am still contracting a lot.

My midwife has told me that it's very possible (since I had to full-term babies) that this kind of thing will go on until my due date. Do you think that is really possible? Has anyone else had contractions that regularly and then hung in there for another four weeks?

Yes ma'am, a whole month actually. Happened with all of my children, the second I was induced, but had been having very regular contractions off and on for 2 weeks. This last baby I had 10 hours a day of regular contractions, when baby day cam I was nearly two weeks late. My hips popped and widened by something like 6 inches and the baby was born within 3 hours. Some women labor for weeks, it's not braxton hicks, and it's not "false" labor, it's not "active" labor either, but it's labor none the less. Make sure that you stay hydrated, I looked like I had been hit by a truck by the time I had my 3rd.

Yes. With my 1st baby I contracted from 30 weeks on.. I had an 'irritable uterus'. I contracted about 5 days out of the week, at least half the day normally every 5-10 minutes.. its annoying.

DDC: Not til I was pregnant with my 3rd (this baby) but yes since about 36 weeks I have been experiencing contractions. Sometimes they last for hours, sometimes they last all night. they are pretty mild but enough for me to try not to get excited.

And, I am 40+2 today and still pregnant so yep full term for sure!

Re: I was in labor and delivery last night; has this happened to anyone else?

crashing too....I consistently go into "labor" at 37 weeks and have with all 5 of my kids. My first I went on to deliver at 40 weeks, my 2nd - 4th I ended up delivering at 37 weeks but I think if they had left me alone the contractions would have died down but in those 3 births they went ahead and broke my water(since technically I was at term) which then threw me into "real" labor. With my 5th, same story but I ended up having him at 40 weeks too. Both my 40 weekers were delivered by dr/midwives that didn't feel it was needed to interfer and just monitor. So my contractions died down. But then returned for hours at a time then died down - this was the pattern for the next 3 weeks of both the pregnancies. I think it is just natural for my body to start to prepare in that way at that time.
I know it is difficult but just go about normal life!
It's taken my this many preganacies to figure out that this just the way my body works....lol I won't be so worried this time around when they start at 37 weeks.

Yup, with both of mine. With the first, people didn't seem to think I knew what I was talking about. Then I went in and they could see all the contractions on their pretty little machines. Sheesh.
With my 2nd, I was more prepared, though I still somewhat felt like it was my fault, like maybe I was holding my body back or something.
But no, he came 2 days late and when he really came, it was fast. It was hard for me to know when it was actually time. I'd been in labor so long that I was afraid it wasn't really happening or that it would be more "not progressing". Husband knows me too well though. It was when I wanted to just stay in the bed that he knew. We had a 50min drive to the hospital. I was past 9cm when we got there, pushed a few minutes later. Had the babe about 45 min after arriving.
