would you buy this used crib?

found this deal on cl and we are looking for a crib for ds. I always said there ere 2 things I refused to buy used...cribs and carseats. But this looks like a nice crib, she openly gives all the info, she has communicated with me very well, ect. We are going to look at it in a few hrs....

here is the ad
http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/bab/2961452920.html

and here is the crib for sale..

Is it a totally bad thing to buy a used crib? There are no recalls on it, she said all original hardware is there.

If everything was there and original, not replacement bits and it felt solid I would.

Re: would you buy this used crib?

I think that if it is a quality crib there is no reason why you cannot use a use crib. I got a used one for my DD before she was born it is very nice quality drop side crib, which I still use. This crib is different then the ones that caused the recall as it has soild metal rails and screws that work the drop sides so nothing can break. So to me it all depends on the quality but again I see nothing wrong with using a crib that another baby has used. Isn't that what you do in a family??

I would. If she has all the original hardware do it! That's a really pretty crib!

That looks like a great deal - if you go check it out and it's sturdy and in good shape, I'd go for it!

I believe according to new safety laws that crib is illegal to sell? I have a link somewhere to the laws I will look. The CPSP says that cribs manufactured before 12/10 are unlikely to meet the new federal safety standards. It is very pretty though. I would probably just buy a new one from Ikea.

I have never heard of prior to 2010...I'll look it up. But I looked up all the info and it is not recalled or anything.
No ikea here or I might too. But I love the black crib, I think it is pretty! She said out of 5 kids and 3 cribs this is by far the sturdiest she has ever had. She said she bought it for her son who was a surprise 'after we sold all the baby gear' baby.

I bought a similar crib for my son who is almost 6 now. I love how classic black furniture looks. I would go check it out. As long as there's no recall and everything is in great shape, go for it.
