Owie! My poor boobs.
Ds is nearly 8 months. For the last month he has taken to pinching, squeezing, pulling, scratching clawing and just mutilating my poor boobs while nursing, I have bruises and scabs and I'm soo over it. I've tried handing him stuffed animals or interesting things to play with, and he won't have any of it. And I was worried about him biting. HaH!!. I guess they don't need teeth to hurt mama during nursing sessions. This is mostly a rant, but suggestions are appricated.

Re: Owie! My poor boobs.
Sorry mama!
What works for me (other than frequent fingernail trimming lol) is nursing side lying and having my DD nurse from the furthest breast, so I am kind of laying on the other one, if that makes any sense. She still will try to scratch, rub, etc. the skin on my side by my ribs, but that's much less painful than when she is doing the same to my other nipple! |

When he hurts you, pop him off, sit him down and break physical contact. Tell him "That's not ok, that hurts mama". When he asks to nurse again do it. If he hurts you, repeat. It's ok to teach him manners and it may take several interruptions but he'll learn that if he hurts the milk stops. Wear a nursing necklace to give him an alternative!
