Re: *Posterior tongue ties do not exist....* Help with Ameda pump and increasing supp
Did you ask if his office will do payment plans? It sounds like your insurance has a good chance of covering it.
Did you ask if he can recommend anyone closer to you? |

Not yet, I figured I would try both of those tomorrow when I call. Crosses my fingers he'll work with us somehow or recommend someone closer.

Hope it works out! Seems like you are getting closer and closer...I just can't stop thinking about you and your little one because your story sounds so similar to ours.

Okay, I *FINALLY* got through all the pages and this is the first time I wish I was still working with AD TRICARE members(7years. I'm on disability now, which sucks). I'm all the way in WI, but if there is anything I can help with, please let me know. I'm *really* pretty good at figuring out how to get TRICARE, either medical or dental cover things. It sucks since you are a prime ADFM it is so much more difficult than if you were on standard. Stupid.

oh, I wish you were too! It's so hard to decipher insurance talk! I'm hoping that by calling and asking them straight out I can get an answer. |

Re: *Posterior tongue ties do not exist....* Help with Ameda pump and increasing supp
Just be careful who you go to...we went to a doctor (ENT)) woo is highly recommended and uses laser, and believes in posterior ties, and still he didn't do the procedure correctly and we ended up having to do it again (dr. K said the ENT only took the anterior even though he said he did the posterior, Dr. k had to take another 1/4" x 1/2" posterior off) o felt so bad putting her through it twice (the clip is quick, but, stretching afterwards is brutal) also if there is any way you can do bodywork before and after the revision, that maximizes results as well. I was able to find a craniosacral.therapist who was willing to reduce her rates to $20/session after hearing or story. Are you on WIC or any other government assistance? My IBCLC recommended I tell anyone I'm trying to negotiate price with that we are on medicaid and WIC - I guess it shows that we really can't afford it, and are not just making it up.
Good luck today. I hope whoever you see, you get great results. How old is your baby now? |

Re: *Posterior tongue ties do not exist....* Help with Ameda pump and increasing supp
I called and talked to Dr. K's office just now to get some details. I didn't get to talk to him directly but his receptionist/tech/whoever was very nice.
She said that they generally charge $500 for the consultation, procedure, and one follow up if necessary. She was able to give me the exact codes that they bill under for both dental insurance or medical (if dental won't cover)...which was great because I had tried to call our insurance company and they couldn't tell me anything w/o exact codes. She also said that they charge active duty military $250 as they give a 50% discount. Added to that, I called our insurance and they will cover the procedure at a rate of 60-70% of the allowable rate depending on what rank the sponsor is and that the consultation fee itself is fully covered. If we were to get up there and find that he DIDN'T have a tie needing revision, it's a $50 consultation fee. She even said that they could get me in on Wednesday if I could make it there. I talked to her a little about what we'd gone through, although I didn't get to go into too much detail. I asked if there was any way to know for sure before getting up there, because it's a long drive to go all the way to find out he doesn't have a tie. She first asked if I'd seen a LC, as they could possible diagnose it, but when I told her I'd seen four and everyone but the second pediatrician said his latch was perfect, she said that many LC's just don't know what to look for. I was a little disappointed when I asked about the correlation between reflux and the tongue tie that all she could do was to refer me to Dr. K's articles online....which state that there is some correlation, but nothing I can find anywhere online explains why they correlate anatomically. She did say however that if I was going to do tongue tie revision that I should do so before the Upper GI, since they're talking about banding his stomach depending on what comes up on the upper GI that the doctor wanted to schedule before next week (and I'm really not comfortable with that surgery after reading up on it). The problem is, convincing my husband, and finding the gas money in our budget. The husband is going to be the harder part of that I think. He doesn't see why it's necessary to drive to New York and think we should just find someone local. Part of me agrees with that honestly, but with all the stories about having to have the procedure re-done, and the fact that our visit with the ENT down here was abysmal....it almost seems easier to just drive over 9 hours each way. Does anyone know of anyone who's done the procedure and had complications, or bad effects afterwards? |
