Its his name. My Liam does the SAME EXACT THING. We just throw things out when he is not looking.

He made a planetarium out of an old yucky box the other day. So who knows what big plans your Liam has for that plastic egg.

LOL.. I guess thats a better spin but it makes it harder for me to be like ggggrrrr put it in the trash...

he has a big rubbermaid tote full of things he "needs" for one craft or another lol ...

he does use them and then wants to save them FOREVER lol

I just posted on FB yesterday about my 4 year old being a mini hoarder. Yesterday it was dirty rubber bands from a store cart and a catalina coupon he insisted we needed at home. I thought about it again this morning while I was vacuuming up all the rocks he brings inside... again.

Well my 6 year old is the same but I happen to be an artist (although a ceramicist, not found object) and my daughter is exposed to lots of art including some cool found object stuff. My mom actually is a hoarder so I try to keep DD in check because I kinda think hoarding can run in families. I let her keep what will fit in a certain container. Once the container is full she can't have more until she makes room for it. Artists, much like hoarders, tend to find potential in everything. It is a blessing and a curse

I JUST cleaned my 4yo room this morning and had this exact thought. She is a paper/art supply hoarder who always wants to save stuff to make into other stuff. I guess my recycling/green living has gone too far!

My 7yo is very artistic and she is very much like this. STOP THE CAR when she sees some curbside treasures. We mostly indulge it as frankly dh and I are a bit of the same and both creative types. We try to limit it (in all of us) and recently have been on a purging binge. Even dd has gotten on board and we took a large garbage bag full of stuff down to the basement last week. AFTER we had a yard sale AND donated 5 large moving boxes full of stuff. She still has 3 or 4 bins full of trinkets.

She creates these mini installations that are kind of amazing. She has been doing it for a very long time - maybe 3? She goes through phases. The rope tying phase was a little unnerving with all kinds of toys trussed and strung up in random places. lately though it has been more opulent jewel palaces than bondage.
