Cool "Safe" Sunscreen Recommendations?

Hi mamas! I'm in my second trimester and now that the sunshine has been sticking around, the kids and I spend a lot of time outdoors. The information on "safe" sunscreens by the EWG is entirely too broad...I honestly don't know where to start! I figured this might be a good place to start looking for a sunscreen with safer ingredients and preferably mineral sunscreen.

What sunscreen are you all planning on using this summer? Any top brand recommendations for kids and/or pregnant ladies? Thanks!

Re: "Safe" Sunscreen Recommendations?

We have had quite a bit of trial and error with "natural/safe" sunscreen. I did quite a bit of research and had a few wants. I want it to work! Our kids are very fair(read:glow in the dark) several of the safe brands stunk and they were cooking in the sun. I also wanted to be able to obtain it easily if not locally. We settled on California Baby in the tube and the Aveeno Baby Stick. I am happy with both. The Aveeno stick is awesome for water too.

I have used California baby, badger baby and most recently episencial. I thought they were all safe chemical wise and worked well.

California baby and Badger until I discovered Eco Logical Skincare! The other 2 are great, but there are still some ingredients that seem to be questioned... I couldn't find any ingredient in the Eco that was questionable! I entered it into EWG myself since they didn't have it listed yet (not sure if they do now?).

I believe CA baby has changed their formulation recently? We love Badger

Re: "Safe" Sunscreen Recommendations?

We initially used Badger--it worked well, but it was entirely too greasy for me. We switched to Alba (the regular, non-baby, SPF 30 is the one that scores well on the EWG page), as it works just as well, is a bit less greasy, & I can frequently get it on sale at the grocery store for $5.

Re: "Safe" Sunscreen Recommendations?

We used Badger last year for Carter as it scores low on the EWG website. We might switch to something else though as I found it was a tad greasy (only if we overdid the amount. A tiny amount goes a long way!). Coconut oil is supposed to be an awesome sunscreen!

I used Earth's Best last summer and liked it, but I was thinking of trying the Cali Baby this year.
