I know as a user you need 6 posts. But does that include commenting on threads? Or do you actually need to START 6 new threads? Thanks in advance!

If you're pm'ing you only need to post 6 times not in FSOT - not start 6 threads. So, you are good to go!

why do you need 6 posts before you can pm a user?

posts in either fsot or introductions do not count. They need to be in dicussion threads in other areas of the forum such as cloth diapering, parenting ect
