Re: I hate making mistakes as a parent! Vent
i know what you mean. i haven't ever popped DS, he's so tiny, and i hope I never will do that in some super heated moment, but i have said some things late at night that i regret. last night he woke up 6 times and i said he was the worst baby ever. i totally didn't mean it but it was 4 am and i was sooo sleep deprived.

Its okay mama!! I understand what you mean by "popped" though when I hear the word the first thing that comes to mind is punching someone in the eye/nose... I think we all loose our temper once and a while (hopefully not enough to pop someone in the face )

Re: I hate making mistakes as a parent! Vent
We're a non-spanking household but I have been guilty of saying something like, "Man, I am seriously about to go off on you" or "I'm going to smack you - I'm sick of this!!!" when I'm super frustrated and don't just walk away. Everyone has those kinds of moments. The important thing is coming back to apologize and learning from it.

We all have those days! Just calm down, apologize, and move on. Guaranteed the kids forget about it long before we do

Re: I hate making mistakes as a parent! Vent
Ive heard people say "I popped him in the face" meaning they punched that person in the face.
Now I realize from your thread and other posts that you would never punch your child, lol! Also, I know that some people say they popped their kid when they spanked them, but maybe the pp has never heard it in that context before.

Re: I hate making mistakes as a parent! Vent
I have said so many times that i will not spank my kids ever again, but it just seems to slip out once every few months or so. Usually I'm having a very bad day, and 3 kids are just driving me up the wall. It helps to see that that is when it happens, and that I need to instead calm myself down before it happens and take a step back.
My kids act out when they have not had enough sleep or they have not had enough attention. I combat it by making sure i focus on them during the day, instead of facebook DS, etc. Then we are all happier and better behaved.
