Home made laundry soap?

Do you put the whole bar of soap in the microwave for a few minutes and it will come out like a powder? So no need to grate?

I have heard a lot about the oxy clean, borax and washing soda mix. heard that you mix equal parts of each and then use two tablespoons to wash with. for those of you who use it is 2 tablespoons enough? also do you use it on all your laundry not just diapers? do you still need to pre treat stains on clothes? I am about to make my own using this recipe and just want a little more information from those who have used it.
