Re: Weekly Chat: Week of April 30
That's better!!! I was gone yesterday and had to catch up THREE PAGES to get to here :-) I was wondering what was going on yesterday morning LOL
I have to apologize in advance... I started to get identities down here (based on the picture next to your post) but now that we are in facebook too, I am SOO messed up with who is who. Names, pictures, ID's... now they are all different! OYE! To the mama who has LOTS of allergies, I read that in last weeks post and responded there, but not sure if you got it before we switched to here... I AM SO SORRY!!! I am currently trying out a gluten free diet with my kids and it is boggling my brain! I am finding that most of my "go to foods" are wheat based. UURRGG. How are you doing it? I am finding that without the wheat, we are eating LOTS more protein that we prob should be. I am trying to keep that in mind, but WOW... it seems to be its equal and opposite. When was your 8th anniv? Congrats! I must have missed it on the thread. Mama of Benjamin (See, I used to have the pic memorized and could look back to see what your name or call name was, but now I think of the one with you and your hubby from FB) The only diff that I have been able to notice between 11 yrs and 3 yrs is more kids Hahaha. We are still newlyweds. :-) So yesterday was CRAZY!!! We homeschool our kiddos so our days are different than most families anyway, but yesterday was insane! We did school at the table at 8, then rushed out of the house (skipping the standard daily nap time and tossing string cheese and hard boiled eggs at them in the car for lunch) to make it to the last day of sewing class (45 mins away) by 1. THEN, the boys and I usually go to a friends house while the girls are sewing for 3 hrs but the friend was not home, so we went to Kmart... and ... walked.... the whole time! I figured it was air conditioned, and if we found any great deals, score... we did not find any good deals, but the boys wanted to spend their money on EVERYTHING... so... that was exhausting! went back to pick up the girls and talk to the ladies who have been teaching them (such sweet ladies who do it as a ministry to "pass on the love" FOR FREE) and got contact info and talked about behavior stuff... (Apparently one of my girls doesn't follow safety guidelines as well as she ought too) and headed home. Hunny called on the way and asked if I would come by his work (I love seeing him, but it was a good 20 mins out of the way) so that he could smile at me and give me a kiss :-) Then to Martha's to say hi and get a few things and home... Got home in time to let the kids eat something quick and finish filling out all 6 swim team apps and waivers and rush off to the pool for the first day of try outs. (it was almost 6 by this time) The first 5 made it without any problems but the littlest was the one I was concerned for... He jumped in like a CHAMP! dove straight, kept his nose pointed at the bottom of the pool, kicked with straight legs, had GREAT BIG arms and cupped hands... and DID NOT COME UP FOR AIR. I think he didn't want to stop his perfect stroke to look up and breath (and he still cannot breath to the side. that is REALLY hard) so he opted to not worry about it. I yelled to the coach and told her to MAKE HIM STOP AND TAKE A BREATH... so she stopped him and he was DONE! he clung for dear life to her and cried. Poor thing!!!! That was it for him.... He said he would try again today, but he got scared yesterday. Then home with 6 wet kids for showers and dinner (which I had not prepared and hopped that my husband would) Got the kids in the shower (for some reason that was harder than it should have been) and fond out that my hunny had been on the computer while I was out :-( I started crying! I was SOOO wiped out! So I threw together a left overs schmorgusbord, warmed it all up and called out the hounds. Bed time, which is usually 8 was more like 8:30 and after dinner chores got saved till morning. BUT... I didn't even flinch last night in bed! I woke up at 3:30 to go to the restroom and found myself in EXACTLY the same position as when I plopped into bed. That NEVER happens!!! Well, I had better get out the door... we have piano lessons today.

Re: Weekly Chat: Week of April 30
I have Jelly brain too! I have such a hard time keeping up on here! Happy anniversary to all you ladies celebrating!
I'm off work today for the day for a midwife appt.It is a 45min drive there and back. And juggling dropping off DD and picking her up and my later appt. 4:30 I felt I could use the day off. I didn't anticipate being sick again last week. I feel very disappointing at work. Between being unable to concentrate and being so sick it's getting a little overwhelming. I honestly feel like every day I show up they are going to fire me. I have been there a year as of yesterday and haven't had any negative feedback, but nothing positive either. As of Friday I've taken 5.5 unpaid sick days since starting a year ago. It's really not a lot, but I feel like I'm missing a lot of work... either physically or mentally from going in feeling under the weather and just being slow getting things done. I can't imagine taking sick leave right now unless something serious came up medically. I keep having migraines, and lots of contractions, and swelling. But none of them together, and nothing too alarming, plus my BP is always great so while I keep thinking pre-eclampsia I just don't know that it's what it is. I just feel a little "OFF" every day. I have no immunities right now thanks to our precious baby girl and I catch EVERYTHING that people bring into the office. I'm sure the feelings like I'm going to get fired are just anxiety but it's still upsetting.

Lol if the number of kids is the only thing different between 3 and 11 years then sign me up for 100. I love being married.
Yuck food allergies stink!! Mine cause migraines but luckily DS and hailey haven't had any issues. Had a great time at play group today. DS is getting so goo with his speech. We are working on sharing now too. He's fine sharing his toys when people are here. Playgroup is hard because most mamas don't watch their kids and they just walk up and steal toys from anyone younger and smaller. Not good. Yeah I didn't cool last night. DH picked up tacos. Now I'm craving chili cheese fries so badly!!!! I know not good. On the up side Benjamin is growing big and strong and I still fit into my skinny jeans! They just don't button. I haven't been dieting or anything just eating healthy and occasionally giving into my cravings

Re: Weekly Chat: Week of April 30
Christina-
Our doctor is like an international allergy expert. I didn't know that when we joined the practice, but it's awesome. They use a German method of pulse/ electromagnetic testing that I think is more accurate than blood or patch testing, which we've had before. I am baking with spelt and kamut for yeast bread, but without yeast- LOL- I am starting my spelt sourdough starter as soon as I get more spelt. I grind it myself in my BlendTec (highspeed blender like the Vitamix but cheaper). Wild yeast (real, pure sourdough) is a different species of yeast and is fine for people who cannot tolerate commercial yeast. Spelt and Kamut are ancient, non-hybridized wheat varieties and 30-70% of people with wheat issues can eat it no problem. Thank goodness because I think spelt sourdough will be fun. But I'm crazy like that. For baking for now: rice flour and garbanzo bean flour work great. We had eggless garbanzo bean flour pancakes for lunch and they were stinkin' delicious. My doctor's office also published an allergy cookbook that I bought and it has really amazing recipes and how to substitute for things like wheat and eggs and such. It is intended to help people rotate their foods and I'm supposed to do a rotation diet for us after I get some new recipes down. We had quinoa porridge for breakfast which was disgusting to me, but it has a texture just like our usual steel cut oats and the kids were fine with it since I put strawberries, raw honey, and hemp milk in it. BEST WISHES to all who have recently celebrated anniversaries. We've had our rocky times but the past 9.5 years have been great for us and we feel a lot like newlyweds, too, still. I have gained officially 25 lbs in 25 weeks. Yesterday at the doc the nurse was like, "Well, I'd never believe you weighed over 150 by looking at you." Which was sweet. Because I weigh 169!!! I used to be so upset by weight gain in pregnancy but now I'm over it. I look great and feel great so I don't care! I love my clear skin and energy. I need to use some of that energy to go pack at least 2 boxes. We could be moving as soon as June 1 but it'll probably be more like June 30. BTW, is everyone abandoning this forum for FB? I hope not. I'm just not into FB. I have enough other time wasters, I just never let myself get on there!
