If a child asked me to have their ears pierced at such a young age, I would wait at least 6-12 months and see if they continued to revisit the topic. If they still wanted it done, I'd allow it. My daughter had her 2nd hole done for her 8th birthday. I took her to the local piercer at my tattoo shop and it went great. Now she's almost 11 and plays sports year round...she rarely wears earrings since they can't be worn during practice or games. She still doesn't regret it though...so I'm glad she was the one to decide.
FTR, I'd feel the same about my 6 year old son. I seriously doubt he'll ask though...he's got long hair and gets mistaken for a girl too often as it is. :/

Re: Would you let your 3yo SON....
Another equal opportunity NO mom here!
But in your case I would say yes, because your other two kids have already had theirs done. I think checking with your local school district is a good idea, too. That way if he had to take them out to go to school you can let him know before he gets them done.

Re: Would you let your 3yo SON....
My initial reaction would be no. Regardless of gender my kids can have their ears pierced when they can be responsible enough to take care of them.
Given that you have had your daughters done at a young age, I would go ahead and have my son's done if he wanted them. |

Re: Would you let your 3yo SON....
No, but i wouldnt allow my daughter to get her ears pierced at age 3 either. Our rule is no ear piercings until the child is mature enough to care for the piercing properly on their own, male or female.

In your case, I'd do it. In my son's case not till he's older but it'd be the same if I had a daughter.

Re: Would you let your 3yo SON....
Thanks for all the replies! I know this is a controversial topic and I am happy everyone has been so nice
![]() I think I was just torn because he always gets called a girl and this is just going to exacerbate it but I am going to wait it out a few more months and if he is still asking I am going to go ahead and let him. FTR I am also an equal opportunity NO mom but I also want to be an equal opportunity YES mom if one kids gets to do something at a certain age I think each child should be allowed barring some crazy circumstance.

No, I would not. But I wouldn't allow my 3 yo daughter to either.....not until she is old enough to take care of them herself....and maybe I will let ds then too if he really wants to.
