Any good gummus recipes?

We buy hummus as a treat it is so expensive. My kids love it for dipping veggies. I wish I could always have it around for them. If you have a good recipe please share. We like all different kinds of flavors too.

I love it with lemon juice and some salt and pepper.. But you could add minced garlic, minced red pepper... Sometimes on the Sabra Facebook page they give recipe ideas for hummus as well

Re: Any good gummus recipes?

I love making hummis and it is so easy. You just throw a bunch of stuff in the blender and it always tastes delicious.

Here are the ingredients I use:
1 can chick peas (drained)
1/4 cup olive oil (you can use less, i sometimes substitute water to save on calories)
1-2 TBSP lemon juice (can adjust it to taste)
1 tsp salt (again adjust to taste)
2 tsp tahina ( this is sesame seed butter I think, I have often substituted for peantu butter or not added it at all, but it does give it a much for authentic taste).

Throw it all in the blender and enjoy!

Where in the store do I find tahini?

Thanks for the recipes.

If you go to my blog (in signature) and search for hummus, you will find my Roasted Red Pepper Hummus recipe. I love it!!! I can typically find tahini near the peanut butter. In one store, it's in their "natural" section by the peanut butter.

Roasted red pepper sounds good. I can't see signatures from my phone. Can you give me a link. Thank you.

Re: Any good gummus recipes?

Hummus is the easiest thing to make ever. I don't ever measure amounts. I used canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans) cause I'm lazy like that. I drain the beans and reserve some of the juice.

I throw in the food processor:
Garbanzo beans
A little of the bean liquid
Olive oil
Lemon juice
Lots of fresh garlic

I don't use tahini (mostly because I never have it on hand), but I use lots of garlic, and it's just as good.

I also do black bean hummus (very similar)
Black beans
olive oil
garlic
lime juice
cumin

It's awesome. My kids have been known to eat it with a spoon.
