Hair loss

I am just wondering what is "normal" I don't have EXCESSIVE amounts I'm losing or anything. My hairdresser said BFing and hormones effect it and that is why I seem to be shedding more.

It's not breastfeeding, it's postpartum . You dump hormones and lose hair. Happens to the best of us!

I am not too worried about it, like I said it's not excessive...but DD is almost 14 months. How long am I "postpartum"?

Re: Hair loss

I started to lose hair when my lo was 5 months old. And it has lightened up now. He is 7 months old. So it seems to affect people at different times.

Re: Hair loss

If PP hair loss lasts longer than a few months, you should get your thyroid levels checked. Hair loss is a sign of hypothryoidism (very common in pp moms)

^ This. BUT that said, I started to really notice it around 4 months pp and it didn't seem to slow down until L was over a year.

Wow! Thanks for this mama, I think I will ask my ob/gyn next month at my annual. We just moved out of state so I haven't established primary care for me yet.
