breastfeeding mama with cuts on areolas. ouch! help me!
cross posting with breastfeeding help cause I need answers asap
![]() I have a couple of cuts on my areola. It has happened before, I think ds's teeth scrape it and then it just keeos getting irritated. Right now it hurts soo bad but hes been favoring that side. I put cjs butter on it when hes not nursing to help heal it but once he nurses it gets aggrevated again. Is there anything I can do? Im thinking of getting a nipple shield but im afraid he will not want to nurse. Hes almost 15 months so he will know something is up lol. Any other suggestions? Advertisement

Re: breastfeeding mama with cuts on areolas. ouch! help me!
I had that from teeth, I cleaned and dried the nipples and put breast milk on and air dried it seemed to speed healing. I also had to stop Ds from scraping/biting. He wasn't putting his tongue over his bottom teeth, so as soon as I felt it, I would tell him no and stop him. Then let him start over, he was only about 10 months but got the idea quickly.

Is there a way to hold your child differently (like football or facing opposite the way they normally do) so the latch doesn't rub on the same spot with each feeding? That may allow the sore spots to heal faster. I know a 15 month old is big!
