Start of an infection?

Ow, my breast is quiet tender, figured it was because I got overful yesterday with baby's schedule, even though I did pump. The right one, looked in the mirror and there are nasty red lines that are coming out of the aerola, looks like maybe a start of an infection... so, other than getting baby to nurse on that side more often and trying to pump til empty, any other suggestions to keep it from getting worse, if it is the start of an infection??

Cabbage leaves placed on the breast overnight can really help, along with grated potato packed on to the sore spot held in place with a soft, non underwire bra. Definitely massage in a hot shower with soap so your fingers are slippery.

Re: Start of an infection?

Looks a bit better this morning! Very odd, there is no hard area... I thought it would start from plugged ducts usually... odd! Anyway, some warmth and draining well and it is a bit tender still, but the crazy red lines are going away! YEah!

Now the other side is seriously sore as got overfull on that side yesterday as she didn't eat a lot during the day, owie, gah! My pump is getting a work out :P
