Getting my children beds for the first time. I do not know what to do!`

this for sure! get twin beds that can be "their" bed for years, and just pick out fun bedding for them. ds is 2.5 and has been in a twin since he was about your ds's age, he's been just fine (it was free, so i admit that sort of made the decision for us, but still, i think i'll go that route for future kids too). we actually have a big pillow that we put on the floor by where his head would be if he fell. he's fallen several times. most of the time, we only know because we hear the soft "thump" and go check on him, and he's still snoozing peacefully, but on the pillow on the floor a couple times he's missed the pillow, and then he comes in our room and wakes us, but he's never crying or been hurt at all, just calmly informs us that he fell and is ok, but could he sleep in our bed now? lol. we have wood floors too, and even with a box spring, it's not THAT high up. i wouldn't want him in a loft bed of any kind though without rails at his age. so if you go that route, i would totally get the rails.

fyi, he has awesome car bedding and car decorations in his room from walmart. fairly cheap, and he LOVES it! that bed will be his until he moves out of our house, but when he's a little older, i'm all for him buying more "grown up" bedding and decor to reinvent the room. that's cheaper and easier for me than buying a new bed every few years

I had the same problems with trying to decide on beds for my LOs. They are 15mo apart and we got them bunk beds and didnt stack them at first. The beds are great. We used the "top bunk" as our youngests bed because it had the rails all the way around. Kinda like a crib but bigger and had a section near the foot with no rail to safely climb up and down. This has worked amazingly well. Now that my girls are almost 5 (in 10 days) and 3.5 they are so happy stacked on top of each other in the same room. I feel I made the best choice for my family. And the best part is I shopped around and found the perfect set that was very affordable.

Trust me - no matter what bed you buy, it will not make getting them to sleep in their own bed any easier. I speak from experience! LOL!
