More not less is working for me

SO Ive always had issues with detergents not rinsing well and it eventually causing rash issues with my DD.. NOTHING I tried ever rinsed well even the recccomended diaper safe low or non sudding detergents. I'd alwasy have this gunky hazy finial rinse.. I got use to the idea that I'd have to run between 1-5 full extra cycles including auto second rinse to clear out detergent.. I'd try using less detergent but it didn't seem to help and of course too little caused more issues.. Additives liek Calagon or vinager didn't help and some caused us rash issues..
So then someone here on DS posted an article talking about diffrent water types and detergent use.. And that areas with hard water would likely do better with more mainstream detergents and that full amounts might be needed to bond with the minerals... As our local water claims the water in our area between 22-36GPG in water hardness I decided to put it to the test..
SO for the past few washes I've adjsuted my washing method
1) quick wash cold nothing to get the intial ickies out
2) long hot wash with extra rinse selected with 1 full (as dirrected) amount of Arm N hammer FnC sensitive detergent and 1 full amount (as dirrected) amount of clorox ultimate care bleach on highest waster setting (for around 20 -25 diapers plus wipes )

I'm getting a CRYSTAL CLEAR finial rinse!!!!!!!!
I turn all my AIOs inside out after it runs then add one more quick wash just to make sure everything is out (joys of microfiber) and I do ussually get a little bit more gunk out but again finial rinse is clear..

OF course I discover this with in I'd guess my last 6 months of cloth diapering before she potty trains...

Re: More not less is working for me

This is me. I have to use the full amount of tide original or I get funk. And no green det would work for me, period.
I do a cold short wash followed by a hot wash on heavy cycle with extra rinse. Bleach once a month. Perfection.

Same here! We use All F&C, and go to the "2" line. If not, our diapers stink when they come out of the wash.

For me it's almost the 2 line. I do super sized water levels in a toploader and I really think it needs that much soap to not be diluted in so much water. I love the smell of my dipes fresh off the line!

Yay for success! We don't recommend that cloth diapering mommas use 1/2 the recommended amount of our detergent either. While there are some cases that call for using less, I think it's generally more appropriate and works better to use the recommended amount.

I use to the 3 line of gain liquid. Works better than any detergent I've use in the past 7 years!

Re: More not less is working for me

I always use a full scoop for a full load. Why does anyone recommend using the smallest amount of detergent for the dirtiest kind of laundry? We're washing poop here, people!
