Switching careers

Has anyone ever switched careers, permanently or temporarily, because it wasn't conducive for what you wanted for your family.

I'm just not sure what to do since I'm the "bread winner". I'm willing to cut everything out that isn't a necessity for our family, mainly selling a specific vehicle we're still making payments on, but my dh ignores me every time I bring it up. I'm so tired of all the weight being on me. I love my career, but I'm several years and schooling away from my ultimate goal and really don't want to miss out on my ds' early years.

I'm thinking about driving school buses. Has anyone been a bus driver before?

I can empathize with the pressure you are feeling and your desire to "get more" of that special time when they are little but I always feel like decisions made to make due for right now instead of with a longer term goal in mind are not the best decisions.

Is there a way to stay on track toward the ultimate end goal but in a less intense time frame - like school part time?

I'm not in school right at all. It seems like every year it gets put off because we need the money of other things, or because my dh started school,mor the timing sucks...maybe I'm just feeling a bit discouraged that it'll never happen for me. Or, maybe I should be more patient.
