3 hours to pay

ugh, sorry I am back again with another question. I am bidding on a diapering item on ebay. The seller says in the description something like, 'please pay within 3 hours of winning bid to avoid relisting'. WTH? Does that not sound crazy? I have done a lot of buying and selling on ebay and never have I expected that from a winning bid. I am just worried I will be in school or running errands and not pay within that tiny window of time (and I consider myself prompt with payments). Can the seller really relist in that soon?

I've seen many similar requests and I usually pay within a day. I've never had a problem or anyone re-list the item.

If I remember correctlty, ebay states all payments must be made within 72 hours. I think there might be a blurb where the seller can request a quicker time, but I wana say no. If it is a buy it now item that is different and you can set it up to request payment upon winning the item.

3 hours is a very short period of time, IMO. What if you're in a different time zone or are working an 8 hour shift without access to a computer?

eBay policy is 4 days (72 hours) before opening an unpaid item claim on the seller's end and then there's another 4 days waiting for eBay to contact the buyer before the seller can request the the case be closed.

Yep, eBay won't even allow them to open an unpaid item claim for 4 full days. The only way they can request payment sooner is if it was a BIN item that they set to immediate payment for. They can request a transaction cancellation, but you have to agree to it for them to cancel.

Yeah, but the seller didn't say they would open an unpaid item claim. They just said they would relist them. That really sucks!! I would contact the buyer, and tell them that you are very interested in winning their item, but it may be near impossible for you to pay in 3 hours. And that ebay has a policy that you have up to 72 hours to pay, but that you will be paying within the day of buying them. I have always (in my experience) had success with having lots of communication between the seller. Good luck!

Okay thanks for the advice to you and everyone. I understand a seller's concern for non-payment, but 3 hours, yikes! It isnt even an item that could end at a high $ amount. I kind of get the feeling the seller might be hurting for some cash. They have over 800 feedback, so they may not have to wait for payment to clear.
