Re: INSURANCE- PSA!

Since this was posted in response to the other thread, regarding what to do when a buyer claims item not received when DC says delviered, here is paypals current policy on buyers claiming items not received when DC has been purchased and provided to paypal, showing the item was delivered. (this is listed in seller protection on paypal).

"Important Shipping Information
Depending on the type of claim or chargeback the buyer files, you will need to provide either Proof of Shipment or Proof of Delivery to get coverage.

If you're responding to an "item not received" claim or chargeback, you'll need to provide Proof of Delivery from a shipping company that meets the following conditions:

It shows the status as delivered.
It confirms the date the order was delivered.
It includes the recipient's address, including a minimum of the city & state, city & country or zip/postal code (or equivalent).
For payments of $250 USD (or local currency equivalent) or more, it includes proof of the recipient's signature to confirm delivery.
If you're responding to an Unauthorized Purchase, you'll need to provide Proof of Shipment from a shipping company that meets the following conditions:

It shows the status as shipped or delivered, or shows a postmark.
It confirms the date you shipped the order.
It shows the merchandise was shipped to the complete shipping address on the Transaction Details page.
Note: Proof of Delivery is an acceptable alternative to Proof of Shipment."

(and I agree, that if i can't afford to refund it, I buy insurance and factor it into my selling cost and let the buyer know it is included)

Re: INSURANCE- PSA!

Thank you for this. Ive seen online store policies where they state that the store is not responsible for lost or damaged items if the buyer doesnt buy insurance, isnt that false then?

If the store accepts Paypal, yes it is false. Honestly if you dont have a pp transaction i couldnt tell ya. I felt this needed to be posted because this is a mostly PP fsot.

I had a trade go awry and she felt she shouldn't have had to insure the items but a mod clarified that even in trades it's the sender not the receivers responsibility!

Thanks for posting.

Re: INSURANCE- PSA!

I insure anything over $20. I'd rather be out $3 to insure something, than however much it costs to replace it.

If an item arrives broken or not at all, it IS the stores responsibility to fix, replace or refund. Are the online stores you are seeing smaller (independent) stores?
