Re: Use of blue cohosh to help labor get started?
I tried Blue Cohosh and Cottonwood Bark with my last pregnancy. My water broke and I didn't have any contractions for days. The herbs did nothing for me.

I am super annoyed with people telling me their birth stories who see me. Strangers even! Walmart check out people...the lady who I park by in the parking lot...its like seeing a pregnant woman almost due automatically warrants them permission to give way too much TMI, I don't want to hear it! Slight vent there...I am just tired of being pregnant. Taking care of a newborn seems easy compared to waddling around feeling handicapped sometimes. I feel like everything I touch breaks, I am so clumsy! Yeah...that's enough complaining, I need to go to bed.

Re: Use of blue cohosh to help labor get started?
Well, I found out after the fact (like months later when I was looking at my chart) that they gave me Misoprostol, or Cytotec, along with the cervadil. That wasn't something I wanted, but that's another story.
But anyway, they gave me those drugs at about 4 p.m. and contractions had started by 5. The plan was to keep the Cervadil in for 12 hours, but by about 1 a.m. my contractions were so bad they took it out. They were one on top of another, no break, with terrible back labor. The contractions stayed strong after they took it out, but I got small breaks in between. My water broke soon after. DD was born at 2:45 p.m. the following day. I'm really glad those drugs worked, because I didn't want Pitocin, which would've been their next step.
