Re: Basically it's Tuesday!!!

I'm confused how $149 is a deal, Jess, because B&N sells them for that now. And FWIW, I think it's worth it to buy it from B&N directly and get the $50 warranty, if you are going to let the kids use it. They replace anything, including damage from spills, with that. Ive replaced my cord 2x already.

Honestly I try not to think of the germs in grocery stores. People, myself included, take actively sick kids there all the time and they touch the carts, the food, the shelves, just about everything. Ya can't go crazy about that stuff or you will be in the looney bin.

Re: Basically it's Tuesday!!!

IDK how the kindle works Janine, but with the Nook your credit card number is used to encrypt ownership of the electronic books you buy, even the free ones. So you can't copy it and give it out to others (other than through the LendMe stuff). So you may *have* to have some sort of credit card to operate one even if you never buy anything or only use gift cards to purchase things, because the CC on file is used in the encryption.

I *think* you may be able to set up a bank account online in a US bank and use the debit card (which here are always tied to a visa or mastercard number) from that account to set it up. I know in the Thrifty Forum there are several mamas who live overseas that do that, so they can buy things from US-based online stores and transfer money with their American relatives.

Oh, you know what? Amazon does offer credit cards. See if you can get one through them. That way you KNOW it will work with the Kindle, LOL.

Re: Basically it's Tuesday!!!

Cheryl last I had seen they were $169 a few weeks ago. My kids have never broken anything electronic and anyways we don't have a BN here or that we would be able to go to more than quarterly anyways.
I've decided that the Wii is not set up for streaming. Mari's $50 Roku is way faster and smoother than the Wii is, and has no problem picking up the signal. So I think that may be our next purchase anyways.

We do our streaming through the DVD player, that may be an option too.

Re: Basically it's Tuesday!!!

I am wiping a nook daily with baby wipes because they are sticky. While I don't think my kids have ever broken an electronic (well, there was that one time baby Rosie dunked the DVD remote in DH's orange juice, we did have to replace that ) I know that I myself have killed three cell phones. So maybe the insurance is just for me.
