Advice on visiting ill friends

Here is the situation: I am moving out of state with my two young boys, ages 1 and 3, on Friday. My husband is temporarily deployed, and I have a stress fracture in my dominant arm. In other words, life is not being very good to me right now. I have very good friends in the neighborhood who would like to make dinner for our family, but they've had a stomach bug all week. The little one is throwing up today, and the 3 year old still hasn't caught it. I can't survive 2 days in a car with kids and cats with a stomach bug. I don't think they will be contagion free by Thursday. What do I do?

If they are very good friends then they will completely understand why you can't come. I would not under any circumstances knowingly risk myself or my kids getting a tummy bug under those conditions.

I agree-normally I would take the chance but not with a road tip planned. Plus after a stomach bug who really wants to cook.hope things get better for you soon.

ITA. Just be honest and be appreciative of their offer. Tell them you are grateful for their kindness, but would rather not risk your littles being sick in a car. I have had family and friends cancel plans and I've done the same. No hard feelings at all. Good luck on your trip mama!
