One of my boys is on the small side and he's never had a problem. They got them when they were about 2 1/2 and have never had problems riding or moving them and we live in a hilly neighborhood.

Mine both have Striders that they absolutely adore.

DD (26 months) just got her big brother's Strider. She is pretty small, and can use it with the seat and handlebars on the lowest settings. She hasn't quite figured it out yet, but she can handle it easily. I think she will get the hang of it pretty quickly.

I debated getting the strider and it fits my, below the 5th percentile, 2y10m old son, but I want air tires, so I'm waiting on the KinderBike Laufrad Mini which is due out May 15. It's been delayed several times.

Check out kidsbalancebikes.com. They've got great info and you can compare the bikes yourself. If you measure your kid's inseam and call them, they'll give you recs right over the phone.

I know this is an older thread but I just had to say thank you for this link. We have been looking for a small, light balance bike for our TINY toddler and this web site has been so helpful! Thought I'd bump this for other people who might be in the market for a balance bike for Christmas.
