Have you tried lactation cookies. If you google them you will find a recipe. You must use flax meal and brewers yeast but I usually add a bunch of dried fruit to them also. It increases the fat content of your milk to help with weight gain. You are only supposed to eat one or two a day but they are yummy and addictive. Also you should not have to get a script for Dom. You can order it from inhouse.biz bit it doesn't sound like you have a supply issue. I think the cookies would help you more

i was trying to upload you a chart i made for myself that really helped me keep up with when baby bf and number of wet and dirty diapers yet wasn't that big of a deal to fill out...however the system won't let me upload it...it looks kinda like this...so maybe you can make something up...plus it really helped when i took it to the dr appt to show it to the dr...
time baby BF: 12 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 wet diapers: W W W W W W W W Dirty diapers: P P P P P how i used it...i just circle the hour closest to when baby started eating then would circle a W or P (or both if both had been done) whenever i changed a diaper...it worked really well for me...I made it in Excel and made it to where i had a weeks worth of info on one page... if you want the chart that i made you can pm me and i will send it that way or email it...whatever works

I was told to supplement with formula when DD was a few weeks old. I ended up pumping (in addition to still breastfeeding) and feeding DD the pumped breastmilk in a bottle after every other feeding. I don't remember how often I pumped though. I would still nurse her each time but after every other time I would then give her a bottle of a little bit (don't remember exact amount) of pumped milk when she had stopped nursing. I only did that for about 2 weeks. Then she started rejecting the bottle and dr said she was gaining enough so I could stop pumping.
I still think I probably didn't need to supplement--she was gaining weight still and having enough wet and poopy diapers--but who knows...

also if you have the opportunity to do a weigh-feed- weigh do it. it can be very revealing in how much baby is eating.
How I do it.... change baby's diaper so it is clean and empty. Weigh baby with diaper on! Write weight down. BF baby with a normal feeding. DO NOT change the diaper (even if poopy). Weigh the baby in the same diaper you fed in. That way all the elimination that happened while you were nursing is counted in his/her weight. take the after weight and subtract the before weight. so if baby was 8lbs 6 oz before and 8lbs 8 oz after you know she ate 2 oz of milk. for kicks it is sometimes fun to clean her up and put on a new diaper the same size and see how much her elimination weighed! makes a big difference! (try it some time on yourself- weigh yourself before you go to the bathroom and then after- woah!) Hope this helps and I hope it gets better! |

Thanks for all the support. I hated my appointment. I really didn't connect with the LC. I didn't find it helpful, but then I went to see my midwife ( yesterday my appointment wasnt with her, it was with another midwife). She lent me a pump and really helped me believe that I can get over this in no time at all. She made this seem like no big deal at all. I'm going to pump after each feed, feed every two hours, and offer her the pumped milk before formula. I bought an organic formula, but I'm still not wanting to go the formula route.
