More name help...

I adore the name Aurelia. I'm just nervous about pronunciation. I think it is too hard for the average American. I don't want my daughter to spend her whole life correcting people.
Do you think it's too hard? Anyone know anyone with this name? Thanks for the help!

I think that is a lovely name. I have never heard it irl but that makes me like it even more. Would you pronounce with a long or short E? That is the only issue I could see people guessing a bit on. We have some unusual names in the family and I am happy to let people know how to say them. Once the kids can speak clearly we teach them how to politely correct people.

Short e. it was one of the characters on love actually, one of my fave movies. My attempt at spelling it phonetically would be... Or real ya. With a short e. haha if that makes any sense.

Love it -and no, i don't think Americans can't handle it. It doesn't contain any sounds that don't exist in the English language, kwim?

I like it. My daughters name is Azria. It can get frustrating correcting ppl and I think. U would have to deal with it as well so I think it would just be something you would have to decide if u can handle it or not. Personally i do not regret my daughters name

Love it. And really no matter what people get it wrong. Can't tell you how many weird ways I've heard Marjorie (me), and even DH (Jon) is always correcting spelling (no h).

I'm guessing Or-ail-ya or Or-ell-ya?

Re: More name help...

I think it is very pretty; I would probably pronounce it with a long e if not corrected. Ore - eel - ya.

But it also kind of reminds me of areola.

I liked that name when I came across it and would consider it if it did not have the same ending sound as my oldest dd's name. I would pronounce it oh-REE-lee-a or oh-reel-yuh
