Once I have mine in there (and not caught on my cervix, I have a bad habit of that) I, Ummm, well "burp" it. That seems to help a lot. Just push on it from the side like I'm going to take it out and get some air out of it. And I cut my stem completely off. I wasn't using it anyways.
