I'm so engorged!
I'm so engorged that I'm feeling sick to my stomach. This is one part of breastfeeding that I just hate!
When my milk comes in, it comes in with a vengeance. And then to make matters worse, my DD has jaundice, so I'm supposed to try to feed her as often as possible, which causes me to make even more milk. It has been 2 hours since baby last fed, and I already have two huge, rock hard, boulders that are throbbing in pain. I am so ready to have my milk supply regulated!

Re: I'm so engorged!
Hand/pump just enough to make you comfortable.
I can feel the engorgement coming for me. Looking forward to it since Molly is bigger and wants food! Lol!

Re: I'm so engorged!
Ugh me too. So much milk, and so much pain. It's sorta starting to regulate. I mean at least they aren't hard like rocks AFTER the feedings now. Just the hour or 2 leading up to them. He'll only ever eat one side at a time, so I'm always in some sort of pain. It stinks. I had to resort to Advil and ice packs for a night or two. It helped some.

Re: I'm so engorged!
Well at least I know Ashlyn is getting enough milk! She gained 4oz in two days, and then from yesterday to today, she has gained another 2.4 oz!
I still can't get her to latch on to my left side, so that is 6.4 oz gained in 3 days from eating only on one side! Yeah, I just make too much milk! Her latch still isn't good either, so my nipple is so sore. I can't wait for everything to start feeling better.

Re: I'm so engorged!
This was my first experience with engorgement, and I was lucky that it only lasted for about a day! Luke likes to feed in short, almost constant bursts and it seems like we got things regulated enough fast enough to get most of the pain to go away. Definitely still feeling it overnight, though.

I'm starting to get engorged on my left side. I was nursing more often on that side bc my right nipple hurt so bad. I went and saw the lc on friday and she saw that his latch wasn't deep enough, so I have to pull his chin down as he latches on. It's getting better.

Re: I'm so engorged!
My nursing companion book says to completely empty the breasts using a pump once a day if needed. Not sure if that is outdated advice, but I did it last night before bed and the next feeding was so much better. I'm using advil and ice packs, too.
