Get the good vacuum bags...even those don't work all the time, but I don't worry about it as they vacuum tight at first for me to shove it all together.
Originally I had everything sorted by size and gender. Now that we have yds, I combined, got rid of the stuff I did not love and have one bag for each size. I do not save many shoes (once they walk we invest in good shoes and do not pass down) coats are stored in large tub. Once yds or dd grows out of outerwear I will sell) We are almost positive we are done having kids, so I am not keeping much, but I am keeping enough just in case. We never had an issue with seasons not fitting, but since ods is a heart kid, clothes always fit longer so he was able to wear the same size for many seasons. Yds is just a small kid, and was born the same season as ods, so it worked out well. |

Re: How to store kids clothes?
Since this is a minimalist forum...I will post here that I have 8 kids and about 4 years ago I stopped saving clothes if they will not wear it within the year. It is just too much. It either doesnt fit right, wrong season, needs a shirt to match the pants, etc. too much trouble and space. I dont even keep baby clothes besides a few special handmade gowns. I used to have a big tote of baby girl clothes and a big tote of baby boy clothes...and six extra large totes for the big kids!!!
But we are also minimalist in that we dont have a whole lot of clothes in our current size, either. So if you like to have lots to choose from this probably wont work for you.

I store my outgrown clothes in tubs. My girls are only 14 months apart in age, but only one size apart. Dd1 is wearing 18-24/2t and DD2 is wearing 12-18. I imagine one day they will wear the same size, but since we are planning on having more kids I'm keeping the clothes. I'm trying to get rid of the stuff I really don't like. Unfortunately I have a ton of clothes because my mom loves finding a good bargain.

CLOTHES! It is mainly storing them that frustrates me, as we really don't own many in each size. I can't store in non AC places as it gets hot and they get ruined in the summer. I stored my baby boys clothes for 8 yrs. At times it drove me batty, but I am so glad we did! We had another son and no money! having clothes already on hand was such a relief! And baby clothes don't really go out of style that quickly, esp. the core basics like onesies, gowns, ect. My goal is to down size what we save, though. I have done this many times, but am going to do it some more. I don't even keep baby shoes under size 4 becuase I don't put shoes on my non-walking babes. I think I need to go through blankets...lol. I have all ours in tubs in the basement, but would love to down grade.! |

Re: How to store kids clothes?
I use totes as well. Only I don't save my daughter's when she out grows them as the next girl in line is 11 years younger(my niece) so not much point in saving. With my son I do save his clothes if I can for my nephew but after I pull out what he has managed to ruin we don't often have a lot to save.
