Gross, gross, gross!

DH, the kids and I went outside to start getting our garden ready. The kids were playing and I was turning soil. I found poop!!! EWWWW!
I'm so grossed out. Apparently a cat has been using our raised bed as a litter box! I scooped 3 piles of poop out of our 4X4 bed. We are in military housing and don't know of any loose cats but apparently there is.

I just want to get rid of the soil and replace it. We cleaned and turned the whole thing but still

I'm so sorry, I know your pain. We have a thousand cats living on our cul-de-sac (ok, maybe more like 15-20) and they all seem to poop in my yards ... To the point where I cant let my toddler play out there unless I'm following her around with a rake and trash bag. Yet another reason that I'm excited to be on the verge of moving out of the city and into nature!

I've heard cayenne pepper helps deter?

Blech. I have four cats and thankfully they only use my garden rows for napping, not a potty box. Could you lay plastic sheeting down with soaker hoses under? That's what I use under my tomatoes and melons/pumpkins and it works great. Might improve your crops too!

That's an idea. I read I could use fencing or netting too. Also anything cats don't like to walk on. I need to try something.

I'm so sorry! We have dropp-off dogs running wild everywhere here and they love to come in the yard/garden and take huge poos. One backed up to my cabbage in a pot! We have been working our butts off pushing dirt up under the fence line. When we are done, I'll be shutting the gate. I chased 2 dogs outa here 3 times a day last week. But nothing I would be able to do if any cats decide to hang around. I have seen 3, but they move on. We have to get a neutered one for mouse patrol and I hope dearly it will stay out of the cargen.

Yeah, just make it so that they can't start digging and they won't hang around.

Sarah watch those dogs around your chickens! Get some blanks and shoot them at them! Are you sure you want a cat? Same problem, it might get into your chickens! If you get a kitten you can teach it where to potty. We took all of ours out to one patch of dirt starting when they were kittens and they have been pretty good about respecting the rules.

This area has terrible field mice. We have to get one. I'll get a kitten for those reasions. I just really want to find one neutered.

We had that problem last year... so far so good this year. We put in a lot of onions and used lots of flash tape, not sure if either of those helped?

We have loads of out door cats around here. My girls aren't allowed outside, but they get pissed seeing all sorts of strays (and annoying neighbor) cats wandering through our yard!

egg shells cracked and scattered all over the garden rows will deter them. helps with compost in your garden too!

This is easy enough and something I can do right away.
I am also going to put some sort of fencing around it too but I'm taking in all these other ideas too
