You know that ipad I saved up for 7 or 8 months to buy? It fell out of my car onto the cement today and cracked the screen. I didn't buy apple care. PSA-- if you buy and iPad, buy applecare. It is worth the $100. I'm totally losing it right now.

Thankful that it didn't happen to break down in the dead of winter. So thankful that my dh is stubborn and insisted it was time to look into quotes. Thankful for the steps we took to put ourselves in a position to pay cash for a replacement (without touching the EF). This all was nice in the sense that, this was only a minor irritation to my day; my children misbehaving causes more stress. So thankful for Financial Peace!

Do you mind me asking how much it is to get the ac put in? We need all the duct work since we have a boiler...a whole nother can of worms. By I'm just curious what the ac itself runs??

Hi mamas, can I join this group?

DH and I started DR a couple of years ago, and fell off the wagon. Being self-employed and having no debt, but no extra income to build our big emergency fund kind of got tiring--swimming against the current, really. So here we are a good couple of years later, and I'm wondering if we'll ever be able to afford a house, while we live north of Los Angeles (film industry--not really an option to move elsewhere) and we're paying $2K a month to rent a 1200 sq ft house.

Now that we're expecting our (surprise!) third child, I'm feeling overwhelmed and know going back to DR is the answer, long term, anyway. We owe taxes this year have a couple thousand on our lone credit card (which we were paying off each month in order to earn amazon points), and we also have another $4K to pay our midwife by the end of October.

Is anyone else in this group self-employed/have a DH who is self-employed? I am feeling a little discouraged at the moment, especially since I can't exactly get a job to help out.

I'm just a lurker here but....

you don't need to have the duct work put in. Look into getting A/C that is called spacepak. We live in a 1920's home that has radiant heat and had no A/C when we moved in. Have the duct work put in would be BIG bucks. We installed spacepak and it was affordable and is perfect!

I would consider taking it into an apple store genius bar anyway. Just ask if there is anything they can do. You may be surprised. My friend ran over her ipad and didn't buy applecare but they still replaced her ipad. I dropped my mac book and the hard drive was destroyed along with cracks all over the shell and they replaced my hard drive and the whole shell for free. It can't hurt to stop in and see what they say.

I'm pretty sure I'd cry. Dh didn't want to spend the money to get the warranty on my kindle but I told him I really really wanted it since I planned on letting ds play with it. Of course since we have it, we'll probably never need it. Good luck, maybe there's a way to get it fixed.

I called and they said it is typically $250+ depending on which model. I cry every time I look at it. After I got the tears out of my eyes and stopped having a panic attack, I assessed the damage and it is just one corner and doesn't go onto the touch screen, so I am going to buy one of these and it should cover almost all of the cracks so I don't have to think about it. And I am going to knit it an uber cushy cozy tonight or tomorrow.
