When DS was 13.5 months old my DH came home from a deployment and the two of us left for a weekend (ds at grandma's). He used bottles for his breast milk and a sippy for water.

It was the last time i left him until he was two so I am not sure when we would have stopped the bottle, but I dont think 14 months is too old for a weekend of bottles.

Re: weekend away, 14mo, bottles?

It's all personal preference. I think by 18 months, they should be off the bottle for the most part. That night nursing/bottle is a toughie to wean so we actually took that one away first and replaced it with a cup at about 1 year. We sat with them reading a book to replace that cuddle time and then at the end offered a cup of cow milk. If you have no intention of weaning, then you could offer bm instead.
