Lanolin(?) stains won't come out!!!
Just bought a kissa's wool cover from another mama and it is heavily stained. I think some is from lanolin. Others just seem to be dirt(?) it overall looks dingy! Ugh, hindsight I would have rather bought a new one since I am new to wool.
I tried gently rubbing in dish soap (Kirkland signature environmentally friendly). Then soaking. Nothing! I then tried with a toothbrush. Nothing. I tried with baby shampoo. Nothing! My plan was to dye it with koolaid. However, I heard that it just makes the stains more noticeable. Is dawn really that amazing? Any advice would be appreciated! Or if any mamas in San Diego want to help me out! haha wishful thinking! |

Yeah..... I was a little bummed when I got it. Unfortunately I didn't realize the picture I saw of it was from the inside. So, I got it in the mail today and saw it. Ugh.... I almost put simple green on it! I was looking for degreasers in the house.
Is it ruined?! |

Does it feel like lanolin. Like, is it greasy? I would soak it over night in hot water mixed with dawn.
Also, how much did you pay for it? Did you not know it looked this way when you bought it? If not I would ask seller for a refund maybe. ETA: I don't think it's ruined. It's just ugly.

Re: Lanolin(?) stains won't come out!!!
Maybe try putting some lemon juice on the stains and give it some sunshine.

It was misleading of the seller to not disclose that nastiness and take a photo from the inside. I hope you got a really good deal.
I think it looks like urine staining from not washing frequently enough. I see many posts from people who wash their wool rather infrequently...and this is what can happen Definitely wash your wool every 1-2 weeks if you are using it regularly.I have no idea how to get that staining out, all I can tell you is what I would try if it were me. I would put it into the washing machine on warm/gentlest possible cycle and machine-wash it with detergent. If it looks better, I would lanolize with a soak, gently stretch it out a little, and let it air dry. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Haha well, I guess I know it's still useable. I just don't want an ugly cover
the inside (picture I saw) isn't as badly stained. It has some stains around the legs. The picture definitely made it look way prettier! I have zout on it right now. Hopefully that helps. I'll get some dawn and soak it overnight. If it still needs tlc I'll do lemon juice and sun. Do you think if I dye it with kool aid it will just make it worse? |

Whoops, yes it does feel greasy. But all around it looks dingy. Definitely looks like the hardcore stains are lanolin IMO.
