I will try to machine wash tomorrow. My machine has a warm/cold warm spray. Will that work? It was definitely misleading. I stupidly thought maybe this kind had the tag on the outside (such as my grovia shells do).

Honestly I would PM the seller and let the person know you feel disappointed. Even if you don't want any sort of compensation, it's not right to try and hide that. Maybe she'll tell you that you should have asked...and maybe you should have asked about staining...but it's still not right that you were not expecting this kind of cosmetic problem.

Re: Lanolin(?) stains won't come out!!!
I have a wool wrap with the same kind of stains on it. I haven't tried to take them out. I live in SD too. I think I'll try dawn if I ever get around to it. I don't really use the cover anymore.

Do you happen to know what the stains are from? I was really looking forward to using this soaker. Yes, I know it's useable but it's so ugly! Being that I am new to wool I have no expertise in this subject.

Re: Lanolin(?) stains won't come out!!!
It's hard to tell from the picture but if it is lanolin then just treat it like a grease stain. pre treat it with a normal stain remover if you have one and let it sit for at least 20 minutes and up to 24 hours. Dawn should work fine - you may want to let it soak in dawn overnight since it's so stained. then launder as usual. you may have to repeat. You can also try sprinkling corn starch on it and letting it sit (corn starch will soak up the grease).
If you want to dye it get the grease/lanolin out first or the dye might not take to those areas. afterward I'd let it soak in oxygen bleach and hot water overnight which will also help the discoloring - then launder as normal and lay in sun. you also might want to try RLR which helps tremendously with dinge

Good idea with RLR! I will have to try all of your suggestions too. Hell, at this rate I would have rather got a brand new one. I guess on the bright side I am learning about wool? It is in the washer right now on warm and hand wash. I will start tomorrow on trying to get it clean.

It's outside soaking in lemon juice. Unfortunately there is no sun! The mama said she would refund my money so, I'd just lose out on return shipping. I'm pretty much just giving up if this lemon juice doesn't work!
