Suddenly a heavy wetter- normal?

Is it normal for a previously light wetter to suddenly turn into a super soaker? DS is almost 2. They don't seem to happen that much less frequently, and I didn't notice a surge in liquid uptake... Does this signify anything?

Both my LOs became heavy wetters around the age of 2. We attributed it to bladder control. They would be dry then suddenly soak through their cloth. We also began to see dry diapers afer waking from bed/naps.

Shortly after, my DD began the PL process.
