need help to identify carseat
My MIL got a used Cosco carseat to put DS in. I don't know where it came from, or if the previous person got it new, but she says it's fine to use.
I couldn't find a model name, but it is a Cosco seat and it expires in 2014. It has a grey checked pattern and can rear face, but I couldn't find any weight limits or anything on the seat anywhere. Is there a way to find out what the seat is, when it was manufactured and what the weight limits are? |

can you post a picture?? that will help a lot. Personally, I wouldn't use a used seat unless I knew the previous owner.

It sounds like the basic cosco scenera that you could buy just about everywhere.

Re: need help to identify carseat
I didn't think to take a picture and won't be back to my in laws until this weekend. I thought it was a Scenera, but know that the weight limits have changed. Maybe I'll call Cosco and see if they can help. Knowing the expiration date, they should be able to figure out the weight limit for that model, right?

Re: need help to identify carseat
If all you know is the expiration date, then it could really be any seat.
If it *is* a scenera and it expires in 2014, then it has a 35# RF weight limit and 40# FF weight limit. As the others have said, there is no way on this green earth that I'd use the seat, not knowing its history. Possible exception if your mil purchased it from someone she trusts implicitly. |

Re: need help to identify carseat
Costco had a grey/black Scenara for awhile at Wal-mart and Target. I'll bet it is that one. They are only $35 at Walmart. I'd go get a new one to be safe.

Re: need help to identify carseat
No way no how would my child be riding in a seat with an unknown history, even if it was just in grandma's car.
If the zombies were coming and the only way to get away was to use a seat with unknown history then maybe, but with several good seat choices under $100, it's just not worth the risk.

Re: need help to identify carseat
I think the Touriva had a black and grey cover too. It would have the same limits as the old Sceneras--it's the same seat. So 35lb RF, 40FF.
