Re: No Braxton Hicks... I'm a little nervous

I never had Braxton Hicks... my water also didn't even break till he was crowning. I had labors pains and knew I was in active labor as soon as it happened. So don't worry about the Braxton Hicks, I didn't have ANY complications.

Same here, all 4 times now... Well I'm still waiting on this one!
But yeah, no BH, water breaks right before baby comes out, and always at least a week post EDD.

Count yourself fortunate! I didn't get many with ds1 but they seemed to be almost constant with ds2.

Thanks, everyone! I'm feeling a lot better now. Now I can stop worrying about the BH and start concentrating on getting those REAL ones going...

Holy cow, that is insane! I hope you get a little more warning this time around!

i wouldn't worry too much about lack of BH. Hope the real ones start for you.

Yep pretty much -- I was the talk of the hospital all that afternoon/evening. LOL!!!

Are you well hydrated? Braxton hicks are often more prominent in dehydrated women.

I didn't get a lot of them. I'd get them sometimes when I was out walking, but nothing that felt much different from menstrual cramps.

Me! I had light period like feelings the day before I went into labor with DS, but it's not like the BH I heard people talk about. I could not distinguish when they were starting and ending, I just felt kind of lousy. I had DS vaginally after 10 hours of labor. I haven't had any this pregnancy (I'm 36 1/2 weeks.)

I didn't have any BH. No idea what they're like. I just went straight into real contractions. It's not that uncommon from what I've been told.

ETA: natural/med free/vaginal/however you want to say it birth with no issue.

Never had BH with ds1 and had him at 41 weeks vaginally (and no induction either).

Re: No Braxton Hicks... I'm a little nervous

First pregnancy- no contractions at all, BH or else. Baby born after 5 hours of labor on her due date! Pregnancy # 2- mild contractions 10 minutes apart but no cervical change (the night before he was born), went to sleep and then bam! woke up to intense contractions at 41 weeks and 2.5 hours later he was born.
BH contractions mean nothing in regards to being able to have a successful vaginal delivery! Why did you need an emergency c-section? Was the baby in distress?
