What brand(s) of dog food do you buy?
Just out of curiosity since we have a new puppy. Do you have 1 brand you always buy? Any particular reason that brand?
My large outside dog (mutt) is on SHEP (Aldi) brand since it seems to do well for him. My new pup is on Iams Small Breed Puppy and will stay on Iams unless a problem develops. I choose Iams because I felt it was a mid-range food on both quality and price, and it's available locally (a must for me). I know there are probably better quality foods out there, but I can't always afford them, and many aren't available in our small town. I also know there are much cheaper brands, but those also lead to stinkier poops and stinkier dogs, IMO, plus they may not be as good for them. I WILL NOT ever buy Pedigree again since my large dog had a severe reaction from it that apparently a lot of dogs were having back then. No flames of anyone for any choices, just wondering.

We buy Nutro.
You should find one brand And stick to it. I don't buy the cheapest food for myself, so I don't do it for my dogs. Plus, I can not stand a dog that farts constantly. On higher end food, we never have dog farts..

Re: What brand(s) of dog food do you buy?
Flint River Ranch. It took several tries to find the right fit for my doggy but she does very well on this food. We tried a couple other premium brands and they just didn't set well with her. She is on the 'fish and chips' aka trout and sweet potato variety. A little pricey but she's a small pug and she doesn't eat much. I only buy 3-4 bags per year.

Re: What brand(s) of dog food do you buy?
We feed a grain free diet of Orijen Adult & Orijen Regional Red. The cheaper foods actually cost more in the long run since they're filled with fillers and have less nutrients per lbs, thus you feed more. Then you have the added unhealthiness that is going to damage your dog's health in the long run. Those two factors right there would be enough for me to have a high quality dry dog food shipped to my home if I couldn't find it in my area (did this for years). I also see the costs factor of being a responsible pet owner and part of dog ownership. IMHO If I couldn't take proper care of an animal, then I wouldn't have one.
Iams is NOT a mid range food, its more on the lower range, lowest actually. The main grain and main ingredient in the food is corn. The next ingredients on their bags are all low quality by products and fillers Not what I'd want to be feeding my dog.http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...uct=1768&cat=7 breakdown on cost- http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index....ge=costfactors more info on dog food- http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...ndex.php/cat/1 http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=main

We buy Sams Club brand lol...we've tried other things, but always give our dog the runs until we switch back.

It's also worth mentioning that they poop less and it breaks down super easily when you feed premium dog food which equals less poop scooping!

Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. I did some research on dog foods since my dog has had multiple food allergy reactions to different foods and treats. The Chicken Soup brand was supposed to be the best combination of price VS ingredients for dog.
When we lived with my mom, she was feeding him this combination of cheap junk dog food ("they like how it tastes") that her dogs eat. Since moving, he's lost 9 lbs (he gained 15-20 after we moved in) and sheds considerably less.

Blue Buffalo. He started out on Canidae years ago but had continuous, toxic, made-my-eyes-water farts....
