I wanted a custom ring made as a remembrance to the pregnancies I've lost. But I found out that it's frickin' expensive to get a custom gold ring. So after talking with the jeweler, I said I'll look through my jewelry box to see if I've got some stuff to sell. I really don't where much jewelry other than two specific rings and a necklace. I've had stuff sitting in my jewelry box for 10-20 years. I sold 3 rings, a pair of earrings, and a gold chain and got $530! So happy, now I can get my custom ring.
So if you need some cash, don't forget about your jewelry box!

Good for you! I have a collection of broken gold that I keep meaning to take in but I don't know where to go locally so I don't get ripped off. Come to think of it I am going to have a ring made in the next little while so it is probably an excellent idea to take the old gold and spend it on my new ring. Thanks OP!

My news station did a bit on this. They said just price check. Take it in and get a quote of what they would pay. Ofcourse it can vary day to day but get one. Go somewhere else and compare.

We sold ex's wedding band and a ring of mine that I didn't like and got a good amount for it.

Before I went, I googled how to price the gold and followed the formula with my own stuff. My price came out pretty close to what they gave me. The guy said I picked a good day to sell my gold because the price was down all week and friday's price was about $50 higher. So I agree about knowing what you are getting into. I didn't want to stop at one of those we buy gold places, but felt comfortable at a small local jewelry store.

Gold is going for a lot right now. My mom had her two wedding rings melted down, including her band from both of them, and had them made into a more simple band with all the diamonds on it. It's really cute. She said without them being able to melt them down though, it would have been really expensive.

I'm curious why people posted they are interested in buying it right now and not selling it? Gold is at a record high, isn't the rule buy low and sell high? I'm confused by these posts.
