When do you start testing? How often? What time of day?
This will be my first cycle using them. I'm CD 10 and wondering how soon to start testing? AF just left yesterday/today.

Update 6/11- Okay, so I'm on CD 19. I have yet to have a positive OPK. I got one that was dark, but not as dark as the control line and I wrote it off as a negative three days ago. Today there is no line at all! Does this mean I missed "O"??? Does anyone use OPKs here and not get a full positive with them? I'm so upset! I was really hopeful this month and now I think we missed our chance

. I've been using $tree opks for what it's worth. Any insight?

I'm just starting next cycle myself, I was planning to test once a day (because of $, just to start, I've read that twice a day is better), at about 16:00 after naptime, starting on my cd 10. I'd love to see what advice more experienced opk users offer you! Best wishes!

Sounds about like what I'm planning. I've heard afternoon is best so I was thinking around 4, too. I'm starting tomorrow, CD 11 for me. I only bought 10 so hopefully this cycle is short or normal like the last few I have had! Good luck to you too!

Looking forward to the answers in this one. I am planning on starting this cycle too. I want to test twice a day- but unsure of when to begin. I'm only on cd2 so I have some time to make some decisions.

I am probably the exception more than the rule, but my surge is always highest around 9-10am. I check twice a day (9-10am and 2-4pm) starting CD10-15 (but I have never had a cycle shorter than five weeks).

The reason I do twice a day is because my body will sometimes gear up to O, but wont actually do it. So I will get a few days of morning positive, afternoon negative. I have been able to predict if I will actually O (at least so far) by getting a morn and afternoon positive. For this same reason, I test until my chart shows I ovulated (or in the pre-charting days until I got my two positives.

Like I said though, I dont have "text book" fertility. HTH!

The package I have (from Dollar Tree, lol, don't laugh, they work) -- says to start on cycle day 11... that's what I did... I tested on day 11 and was negative, then on 12 and 13 I had positives.

I never got a super dark line. But you may not have missed the egg. It's takes 12 to 36 hours after the positive for the egg to drop. For me I think it was more like 36. I would get to it today if I were you.

Good to know! I will be busy, lol. I kept saying we'd just dtd every other day or every 3rd day to be safe, but we've been out of town and crazy busy so it just hasn't happened
