Re: Menstrual-like cramping - experienced mamas help :(

On my due date I felt the same thing. Menstrual like cramps. Since I was full term, I was directed to the hospital. Apparently I was contracting every 2-5 minutes. My water broke 2 days later and he came 2 1/2 hours after that. Definitely go get checked out.

That's how I felt the entire day before I went into labor, though they weren't constant. They were super mild menstrual like cramps, and it was hard to distinguish when they started/stopped so I definitely didn't think they were contractions. I'd call or go in just to be sure

Agreeing with everyone else, sounds like early labor. Don't hesitate to call your doc/midwife or go in to get checked. I always go into denial when I am in labor and my dh is the one who knows its the real thing lol. But that's how I typically feel.

You're going to the doc today so it doesn't matter anyway, but I was going to go against the grain and say I wouldn't call the doc if it were me. It does sound like you're in early labor, but the doc isn't going to be able to tell you when anything is going to happen. If you are dialating/effacing, which chances are you are, the doc might tell you that you will probably go into labor very soon, when it could actually be weeks before your baby is born. That is no fun at all to get your hopes up, I've been in that situation and I'll try to avoid it next time.

Good luck! Hope it goes well and your little one wants to incubate for a few more weeks!

This is why I've avoided calling the doctor, I really don't want to go to the hospital until I'm close to pushing.

Just wanted to update to say that my test results came back and I've actually been diagnosed with cholestasis so I go in for my induction Wednesday.

The cramps ended up being a good thing though, I'm a fingertip dilated so maybe the induction will work and I can avoid a section.

Wow, I hope everything goes well on Wednesday, I would agree the cramping is probably a good thing then and perhaps your body is already preparing for birth. I hope your induction will go well and you can have the birth you are wanting.
