The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
Here goes the monthly thread for The Big Mamas...
This thread is for the mamas who have a long road ahead of them... Naomi started this thread because she felt that the Big Mamas face different struggles when working on weight loss. We don't just need to lose a few pounds to feel happy, we need to drop large portions of weight to be healthy and active! Feel free to join me and the other ladies anytime! If you feel comfortable give: Your name Starting Weight Current Weight Short-Term Goal (ie. "X" by valentines/March) Long-Term Goal Weight Lost to Date Weight Loss Plan I know it is a little intimidating to give your weight, but I really feel it is important to "say it out loud", so if you can, say that number for the last time and watch it shrink! This thread is for the Big Mamas...women who are about 70lbs or more over their healthy weight (or were at the beginning of their journey). Join the ladies and I as we work our way to a healthier us!

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
I hope it's okay that I started the June one... I saw it hadn't been put up yet
![]() Your name: Kearson Starting Weight: 205.6 (4/20/12) Current Weight: 196.6 (5/9/12) Short-Term Goal: Below 190 by my B-day (June 10) Long-Term Goal: 140 lbs (don't know if it's realistic because I haven't weighed this much since 6th grade, I'm 5'6"). Weight Lost to Date: 9 lbs Weight Loss Plan: Physical ~ I'm going to try the Couch to 5K. I just need to get shoes. Until I get my shoes, I'm going to try to squeeze in 15 minutes a day on the exercise bike just to get DS used to me doing it (getting him to leave me alone to exercise is practically impossible most times). I'm also going to do some work with hand weights. Nutritional ~ I've started taking my vitamins and my metformin again (yay PCOS) and I am going to cut out processed carbs (candy, chips, crackers, etc.) I'm going to up my veggies intake daily and start eating more fish and chicken instead of red meat.

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
I have been completely slacking lately and I'm so afraid to get on the scale
![]() I doubt I'm going to hit 190 by my birthday, but darn it, I'm going to try. I found some fitness gear in DS's closet, so I am going to get together everything I have today, as well as set out all of my 'workout' clothes and take stock of what I have going on. I really want to get new running shoes, because the ones I have are awful, but I just don't have $105 to get the ones I need. I'm thinking of doing the Couch to 5K. I would love to be able to run a mile in under 12 minutes. How is everyone else doing?

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
Your name Laurel
Starting Weight 184.5 (actually was over 195 at the Dr 1 month before my first official weigh in at home so I count weight lost from then but I started eating healthier before then) Current Weight 159lbs Short term goal- break into the 150's (so under 160) by May 15. That will be 24.5lbs lost total.- Took Me until June 1st but I got there! New Short term goal: In the healthy BMI range by July 4th- 155lbs. Fitness goal: Complete the 30 day shred by the middle of June (i'm doing it a little slower, 4-5workouts a week)- 3 workouts left! Long-Term Goal 50-70 lbs. (I'd love to loose 70 lbs because my fame is tiny but I just am afraid to shoot for that much for fear I'll fail, and 50 less would put me at a perfectly healthy weight) Weight Lost to Date: 25 lbs. Weight Loss Plan Eat healthy and get my blood sugar under control, track with MFP and moderate exercise.

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
Gotta love the double posts around here.
I'm also thinking about doing couch to 5K but I'm just not sure if I'm up to it. I started once and I just couldn't seem to stick with it. I"m also debating joining a gym just for the summer so I can go swim. I have a certificate the school gave me for 3 months free membership so I ought to use it I guess.

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
Okay, I haven't lost anything, haven't gained anything (I don't think), just hovering. This past week I wasn't hungry half the time, didn't get on the elliptical much at all, but did spend at least an hour in the pool 3 days this week, so was exercising, but I don't feel any different. Tomorrow I am going to do elliptical and core exercises. Need to make sure I'm eating regularly, even when I don't feel like it, and keep trying.

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
What is the normal weight fluctuation? Is 7lb abnormal the day after a hard workout? I did pilates and strength exercise on Saturday and then I did pilates yesterday and mowed the lawn (for 2 hours lol). I was 211 on Friday when I weighed in, but I was curious this morning when I was getting in the shower and I was 218. That seems like a huge difference. Especially since I haven't been over 215 in 2-3 weeks

Re: The Big Mamas June Weight Loss Thread
I usually can see a swing of 2-5 lbs from working out especially if I don't drink enough water. So 7 doesn't seem totally out there, especially if you also went high on sodium.
