ISO: Diapers and help for confusion
My son has custody of my grandaughter and they live here with us, we have been fighting a diaper rash for over 2 months and the doctor would like to see her cloth diapered. He of course has no money for these, so I am looking for some to last me one day so I can wash them every night for him.
She is already 25 pounds and 16 months old, too big to invest in new but too young to potty train. Can you let me know: 1. What do I need for real......confused as heck 2. What do you have for sale or trade? I have some actual liquid concentrate Enfamil yellow can formula. 3. Thanks. |

Re: ISO: Diapers and help for confusion
Are you her caregiver as well - would you be the one changing the diapers?

Re: ISO: Diapers and help for confusion
you probably want either all natural fibers, aka cotton or hemp, or stay dry, to keep the baby's privates dry. i would try some of both to see what helps. i would also suggest all in one diapers as they are the easiest to use, almost like a disposable, some have snaps and some have the velcro like disposables.

You can go on YouTube/Pinterest and find recieving blanket prefolds. It shows. You how to make a diaper out of a recieving blanket.
Then pick up some cheap ones from a thrift store and you can make a bunch of diapers out of cotton for a dollar. All you would need after that is a couple covers to prevent leaks. I'd explain how to make them or link the site but im mobile right now. Cheers In the meantime you could make some stay dry liners for the disposables out of very thin fleece to see if that does anything. |

Re: ISO: Diapers and help for confusion
Check out prefolds, Greenmountaindiaper.com and nickisdiapers.com have them and are good sites, (amongst many others!). They are cheap and you can get them in 100% cotton. ETA- you'll need a cover, although many don't use a cover around the house. Try wool if you can for breathability, or bummies and thirsties are good options too. Check craigslist for deals too.
I'd also try just letting her air out, lay her on a flannel pad or blanket as much as possible

I have two all-in-one diapers with snaps (like new) & one brand new pocket diaper with 2 inserts. They are all one size. The brands are BumCheeks, Itti bitti tutto & Kawaii Baby. You can look at pictures through my link in Mixed diaper lots or I can email you the link. If you can't send messages you can email me. I will PM you my e-mail. I can sell all 3 for $35 w/shipping included. Let me know. Thanks (:

Re: ISO: Diapers and help for confusion
If you want a cheap, easy to use option, flats pad folded in a cover are the way to go. After trying everything, I have settled on the simplicity- my stash is now about 10 flats, and 8 covers- I handwash each diaper as it's used throughout the day and hang it up to dry- I never run out. I rotate through a couple covers each day- letting each air out between uses, hand washing if it gets a bit of poo on the edge, or tossing in the pail if it is bad or starting to get smelly. Once a week or so I run all the covers and cloth wipes through the machine.
