Hi Everyone!! My husband and I will be relocating to the area for a business opportunity in the September/October timeframe. We have a 16 month old baby girl, and cloth diaper I was so happy to stumble accross this forum...and would love to connect for playdates this fall! We too are struggling to find suitable, affordable housing. It seems to get snatched up VERY quickly! I would love any tips you might have

Portsmouth is the most affordable and convenient to Norfolk. My DH works in Norfolk and only has about a ten minute drive. Port Norfolk is a good neighborhood to look in. It's right by the midtown tunnel. We just moved from there. I LOVED the neighborhood, I just hated our particular duplex.

We left there in 2010...I actually miss it. We lived on Laskin Rd. since DH was stationed at Little Creek and I at Oceana. Then we moved almost into Chesapeake near Greenbrier. The traffic is horrendous anywhere you live really, lol. We had a friend that lived in Elizabeth City, NC and drove to Little Creek everyday, it's about an hour drive I think.

Yes! Cloth Diaper Junction is in Virginia Beach, close to Little Creek...well, I think they moved right before we left...so they may not be over there anymore. But, I love that store!

Good luck in your search, if you're going to NOB, I really don't know that area very well. We were only over there for his C-school and we stayed in the Officer's quarters (hehe that's because the other barracks were full).
