What has your doctor said about Vitamin D?

Talked to my RE about this today and he said I should have an additional 1000 IU in addition the the 400 IU in my prenatal. I got 2500 IU gummies so I will just cut them in half. He said not to go over 2000 IU. No idea if they tested my blood or not but I didn't get blood work today.

My doc never said anything about it with my last pregnancy, but she was IUGR. Found lots of evidence online indicating that IUGR is strongly correlated with low vit D levels, which I absolutely had.

We're keeping a really close eye on them this time around, but different docs have different recommendations.

I think 30-50 is normal b/c my endo just said to add an additional 1000 to my 5000 to get me closer to the 50 end of normal since I'm still breastfeeding.

I wonder why he said not to go over 2000 IUs... I had to take a much higher dosage to get out of the major D deficiency I was in, and take 4000 IUs for maintenance! (I get my blood levels tested every three months)

I am not sure why my RE said only 2000 IU is the max. I have 3 doctors I work with and honestly he is at the bottom of the totem pole right now. I will ask my oncologist when I see her in a few weeks. And I will ask my peri when I see him after I am pregnant.

I forwarded that journal article on to my DH. He is a scientist and looks at things differently then I would. He will tell me if he agrees with the science or not. However on the surface it looks promising.

I asked DH this morning if he had read it yet and he said he would tonight. What is that old saying about the cobbler and the shoes... yep that is me!

Okay DH finally read it yesterday and after some scientific mumbo jumbo, basically he said he wants to see the full article to make up his mind about this. So I am trying to figure that out now.
