Nothing fancy, but I'm still excited!

My daughter hasn't been in cloth for probably a year now. She outgrew all the baby sizes and I hadn't been motivated to sew, plus we get disposables for free since she's older and has medical need. Anyway, I finally got fed up with the sposie STINK and made her a new stash of cloth.

They are PUL/Microfleece shells and I added snaps to her prefolds so they could snap in like liners (she's long past fitting in them snappied). They have a snap-down rise so they will fit her longer. I expect they will fit her for at least a year, hopefully two. My 56 lb 7 year old is too big for them.

And on:

And I'm also trying to cut down on medical supply waste. I've been using cloth g-tube pads for a long time, and I found they also work really well around her trach, so I made a whole bunch more:

Not pictured are 4 batman ones and 4 purple striped ones.

Next I'll be making pads to go underneath her in bed so we use less chux pads (we have two store bought waterproof pads, but in between washing we have to use chux).

And her wheelchair broke a few weeks ago and all we have is a giant jogging stroller that's too big for her, so I made an fabric covered foam insert, and used pool noodles for lateral support and a footrest. I also made a closure to keep the too big harness on her shoulders.

Great projects! The diapers look like they fit well. Did you use your own pattern?

Awesome job on everything!

Yes, I made up two patterns and had to tweak them both a few times, but I'm happy with the one I picked.

Re: Nothing fancy, but I'm still excited!

I made chux before. I used a 4 layer core that I "quilted" by striping every 3 inches in a diagonal. Then I turned and top stitched the top and bottom. The core and top were flannel and the bottom was fleece. (I thought about wool but figured it was better to be machine washable and dry-able.) I then sewed a big x across the top and top stitched around it 3 inches in around the edge. I don't remember what measurements I used. I think 2 1/2 feet square appox. I used a disposable to figure out size.I used them for a 120 lb adult and they were sturdy enough to hold up to roll changes.

She is a cutie! I love the pool noodles! She looks very comfy especially with the one to prop her feet on.

Re: Nothing fancy, but I'm still excited!

I just finished making 2 of them. I didn't measure, I just went with the biggest pieces of flannel and PUL I had. They both ended up being about 26"x28". She's still just a little thing though and we don't roll for changes yet. I just did 2 layers of flannel and a layer of PUL. When she leaks out of her diaper it's usually just a little overflow, not a ton. I think they will be at least as good as the store-bought ones.

Great job mama! Her girly wear looks like it fits well and those cloth g-tube pads are a brilliant idea. Well done!
