Re: S/O What to pack in the "go bag" for a birth center birth?

As long as your not putting it on your skin!

ETA: It just occurred to me that you were referring to cleaning up the location and not your person..... I really needed a 2nd cup of coffee this morning.

The witch hazel pads are great!! Just buy the thicker overnight type pads and witch hazel. Pour some witch hazel on a pad and stick in the freezer for an hour or so. Then use! I tried this after my daughter was born and it felt soooo good. I made up like 4 or so and kept making more as i used them. Every time i felt sore i put one of those on and felt better right away.

My midwife told me about this but i didn't try it until like a week after i had my daughter. Once i tried it i felt so stupid for not using them the first week. LOL

Oh and i found the witch hazel in CVS too. You just need to ask or really look because they put it in the weirdest places.

Don't feel bad, I'm on baby #6 and I've never heard of them either. Better believe I'm going to be making up some of these! Great tip! And...I just bought witch hazel yesterday at Walmart because I like to have it on hand.

^ It's usually with the first aid stuff. That's where I bought it at Target, it was on a lower shelf.

great info about the witch hazel...i'm going to try that for sure.

one thing my mw recommended was bringing some sort of casserole or meal to heat up after the baby is born. this is my 1st birth center birth so im still not sure what to pack. i suppose it also depends on what time the baby is born?

Food is a good idea. I don't know how your BC is, we get spoiled at mine. The nurse made apple crisp while I was getting ready to deliver, so it was ready after I was all cleaned up and snuggling Eisley in bed. (The other option was chocolate cake- I was in transition when she asked which I wanted and my head immediately snapped up and said "apple crisp!" very intensely. In my head I was worried she would accidentally make the chocolate cake, lol.)
