Writing birth plan

I am due in less than 6 weeks, and I have got to write my birth plan. I never actually wrote one down for DS, and I wish I would have. I'd like to get this completed before my next appt next week!

Does anyone have any good templates to start working off of? Preferably one that is geared towards a natural birth in a hospital? Thanks ladies!

Re: Writing birth plan

I would just make a list of what you absolutely want.
What you will absolutely refuse
and what you might compromise on in certain situations... and then go from there.

God bless!

First, know what the policies of the hospital are. If they have no issue with eating/drinking, walking, no IV, etc there is no point in including those in your preferences. If anything requires documentation (refusing vit k, no eye goop, etc) I would write down those preferences and make sure to note them with your provider so they can know what you'll need to have ready to sign.

Beyond that I just included my ideals in the major situations (natural ideal, alternatives I want to try before any interventions, what I would want if after discussion and decision a section was necessary, etc). I'm sure someone has a good example of birth preferences here.
